The political landscape in Florida has recently witnessed some significant developments that pose a serious challenge to efforts aimed at promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at public colleges and universities.
On November 8, 2023, the Florida Board of Governors put forth regulations aimed at restricting the use of state and federal funds for DEI programs. This decision aligns with the bill signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis in May 2023. The Board of Governors is expected to have a final vote on adopting the regulations at their meeting on January 24, 2024.
