Dr. Janelle Jennings-Alexander, Saint Augustine’s University

Currently the interim associate vice president for academic affairs and assistant professor of English at Saint Augustine’s University, Dr. Janelle Jennings-Alexander focuses her teaching on the intersections of race, rhetoric and composition in literature and writing classes. Her research explores whiteness within the context of late 20th and early 21st century African American literature and examines the development of anti-racist pedagogy through literary study. The Raleigh Green Book Project centers her current research focused on reclaiming oral histories and storytelling. Four children’s books have been published that relate micro-narratives from Black residents of Raleigh, North Carolina, during the Jim Crow era.
