Aaron Mateo Olmos, a wrestler at Oregon State University, is studying public health. Olmos is active in several campus organizations, including Kappa Alpha Psi, the Black Student Union, and DAM Change, a Black student-athlete led organization that raises awareness about systemic racism. He received the prestigious Frances Dancy Hooks Award during the 40th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at Oregon State. “Mateo has been a vital building block within our program,” says head coach Chris Pendleton. “I haven't met too many student-athletes as driven as he is to impact his community in such profound ways. He excels in all aspects of his life, and he's just getting started.”
